Doing My Part

It was February 28th, the first day I was scheduled to be working on my own as a staff nurse. I began working at Crossroads in October and was grateful for the generous orientation period that had been wisely planned by Tresa and Cindy. During those five months, I had been working on refreshing and expanding my OB knowledge base, taking a 30-hour didactic course online through Heartbeat International, learning ultrasound scanning techniques from Tresa, and traveling to California to complete the clinical component of Heartbeat’s ultrasound training.

I was keenly aware that Crossroads had invested an abundance of time and money in my training, and I felt a sense of responsibility to ensure that those investments were not all in vain.

Don’t Let all the hype fool you.

This past year the overturning of Roe V. Wade was monumental. It was a celebration for the conservatives. But most of us understand that though abortion laws have been turned over to the states, Pennsylvania still allows it. After the November elections, it is pretty clear it will remain that way for some time.

The media has pushed the agenda that women are angry. Women want abortions and they know “all the facts.” Pregnancy centers are the enemy, so the politicians say. Centers like Crossroads supposedly give misleading information.

It’s not at all the case. I’ll tell you from experience.

From The Director: A Post-Roe World

Back in February, my husband and I chose a random date to reserve tickets to Sight & Sound in Lancaster to see David. We chose June 24th. That evening as we watched David go up against Goliath, the scene became more than just theatre. When Goliath fell, it was a spiritual demonstration of what had happened that morning at the Supreme Court with the overturning of Roe v Wade. I realized that choosing that date to go was providence. Praise God, we now live in a Post-Roe world!

Next scene: David’s army of men began dancing and singing “The battle is the Lord’s!” This is so true! But the battle isn’t over, it’s just begun. Now Christians must put their words into action and be there for women in need.
