Caroline, a struggling mother with a child in foster care, visited us last year for an ultrasound. She couldn't admit out loud that she was considering abortion but explained that she couldn't financially handle another baby and wasn't in a relationship with the father.

Recently, a local pastor posed a thought-provoking question to his congregation: "If our church were to disappear tomorrow, would anyone notice?" This question inspired his church members to seek opportunities to serve in the community. It is a brilliant and excellent question for followers of Christ. As stated in Acts 20:35, "In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work, we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'"

During those five months, I had been working on refreshing and expanding my OB knowledge base, taking a 30-hour didactic course online through Heartbeat International, learning ultrasound scanning techniques from Tresa, and traveling to California to complete the clinical component of Heartbeat’s ultrasound training.
I was keenly aware that Crossroads had invested an abundance of time and money in my training, and I felt a sense of responsibility to ensure that those investments were not all in vain.
