Crossroads is now a Consulting Center for the Abortion Pill Reversal Network

For 40 years, Crossroads has been helping women who are in the midst of life-altering decisions. Decisions like, “Should I keep this baby or should I get an abortion?” Usually, women in this situation agonize about the choice because they feel it just seems impossible to proceed with having this child in difficult circumstances.

But now they have an option, the abortion pill, before they can even consider the implications. They are enticed by companies looking for financial gain. They haven’t been told about the dangers imposed by taking these abortifacient drugs. No real precautions, no alternatives.

We have experienced a sharp increase in calls from women seeking the pill. According to Guttmacher Institute 2023, chemical abortions were 63% of all abortions, and this percentage is growing rapidly. 1

With the broad access to chemical abortion, these drugs, each with their own Black Box Warnings 2, can be in hand within hours, delivered directly to any doorstep. No matter where you reside in the U.S., a quick search on your phone and less than five clicks can start an order for your own abortion pill kit with no medical assessment. No human contact. You don’t have to be pregnant - or even female - to make the order.

You might be five weeks pregnant, or you might be 36 weeks pregnant, or not pregnant at all. Maybe you have an ectopic pregnancy. Some women, not knowing how far along they are when taking the medication, are shocked when they give “birth” to tiny, perfect human beings in their bathrooms. They panic and, at times, not knowing what to do, flush them down the toilet.

And if you traffic or abuse women, you can often order in bulk for a discount price.

Women who obtain chemical abortions in the U.S. today show a serious adverse event rate of 10.93 percent—at least 22 times as high as the summary figure reported on the drug label. 3 These women experience sepsis, infection, hemorrhaging, or another serious or life-threatening adverse event within 45 days following a mifepristone abortion. This number is far greater than the summary figure of “less than 0.5 percent” as reported in clinical trials.

The abortion pill consists of two medications. The first is mifepristone (Mifeprex), which blocks progesterone, and the second is misoprostol, which induces contractions. If a woman changes her mind after taking the first pill and contacts the Abortion Pill Reversal Network 4 quickly, preferably within 24 hours of taking the first medication, she may have at least a 67% chance of safely saving her baby. Since the beginning of Abortion Pill Reversal (APR), 8,000 babies have been rescued!5

Heartbeat International 6, a life-affirming organization that we are affiliated with, started the Abortion Pill Rescue Network (APRN). Centers that become part of the APR Network are needed to care for women seeking reversal of chemical abortion. This is why Crossroads Pregnancy Center has become a Consulting Center for the APRN.

We can eliminate many of the barriers for the client seeking reversal and are able to offer clients on-going needed support following the reversal attempt.

By providing Consulting Services, Crossroads:

● Educates clients about Abortion Pill Reversal.

● Refers clients to the APR hotline if they need reversal services.

● Assists with locating donors to help clients pay for their prescriptions and/or physician visits as they attempt to reverse the chemical abortion.

● Working in conjunction with the prescribing provider, provides free, limited obstetric ultrasound to clients receiving reversal treatment.

● Provides follow-up support if needed to women who have a successful reversal or pregnancy loss after attempted reversal.
