Ministry Updates and Client Stories

The Effectiveness of One Event

When Crossroads prayerfully opened an office in Altoona, bringing medical services to the area, we planned on different strategies to reach potential clients. Part of the plan was to contact the medical community, social services, and resource organizations in Blair County to inform them of who we are and what we do, so they could refer the people they meet to us. We hit the ground running and we were met with open arms. The most common response was “Your services are free?!? How can you do that?” That allowed us to share God’s goodness and His mission for the lost and hurting that guides what we do.

We were invited to several offices to share with their staff about Crossroads. Those meetings were reciprocated with invitations for them to come to our new office for a tour. Each time we shared, we were planting seeds of hope and help for the individuals they were assisting. The word was spreading through the community about Crossroads services through this vital tool of networking that God used to open doors for Crossroads. He was linking our hands with theirs.

Phone calls started, appointments were made, and clients came in. The medical appointments were the first to take off because the medical community was referring patients for our ultrasound services. Bridges appointments were slowly increasing but not at the speed or volume we expected…until one event opened the floodgates.

We were invited to set up an information table along with nine other organizations for a social services event. At that one event, we had 28 women sign up to enroll in Bridges. We went from just a trickle to overflowing—all because of God going before us and preparing the way.

I ask you to prayerfully consider linking hands with Crossroads to use your gifts and talents to advance His Kingdom. The harvest is ripe—laborers are needed!

You go before me and follow me.
You place your hand of blessing on my head.
Psalm 139:5 NLT
