Painful Gift
By Suzie Fox
A reflection on when clients still choose abortion. And the pain and empathy we feel while working in pregnancy help ministry.
I watch your tiny heart
Beating on the screen.
I could be one of the only ones
Who’s ever seen
You.
Your mama is young and fearful.
Her plans already made.
You were not included
In her future
Days.
I see your potential.
Your life does have purpose.
If only…
I could…
Penetrate the surface.
The walls are up
Her heart is hard.
The pain intensifies,
Cuts me like a shard.
This pain I bare
I question,
Is this all
Really worth it?
This calling
A gift?
Or a burden?
Jesus whispers softly,
“You’re honored to be a witness
Of the brief time my child was here.
The witness of his existence.
To suffer with Me,
Isn’t easy.
I never said it was…
But these moments are filled
With a beauty,
You’ll only understand
from above.
In My arms
It will all make sense.
One day you will see.
Trust Me child.
Take My hand.
I Am
All you need.”
