Reaching Our Teens

stephanie.jpg

Hello Everyone! My name is Stephanie Dye and I am the new Reaching Destinations Director at Crossroads! My husband Sam and I have been married for almost 8 years and have three amazing little boys! Since earning my bachelor’s degree in Social Work, I have spent a lot of time working with children and teens throughout the years.

My experience ranges from children in foster and adoptive services to children and their families who have learning and behavioral disabilities to most recently, having taught English as a second language from my home every morning. To say that life is busy would be an understatement!

But, throughout all my positions, my calling to ministry has always remained heavy on my heart. In college, my senior practicum was with the local pregnancy center. I worked with every aspect of the ministry and very quickly grew to love the purpose and mission behind the center. From then on, pregnancy centers have always held a special place in my heart.

A few weeks before seeing this position available, God really began laying ministry on my heart along with going back to work part-time. At the time, I didn’t know what it would look like but I began praying that God would place it right in front of me. At the Crossroads Banquet, I sat across from Cindy and saw the job opportunity in the program. I began to ask her questions and very quickly God began to connect all the work I’ve done with teens up to this point and showed me how He was going to use me within this ministry. The rest is history!

For those of you who do not know, Reaching Destinations is the Sexual Risk Avoidance division of Crossroads. With this program, we hope to help young people make a plan for a great future and teach them ways to avoid an unplanned pregnancy, STDs or the consequences of abortion. I go into schools and youth groups to present factual and evidence-based proof that abstinence is the best lifestyle to follow until marriage. All the statistics and facts are from the CDC and HHS. (Center for Disease Control and Health & Human Services) The program is geared for Middle and High school students. When I present to church youth groups and in Christian schools, I am able to reference scripture and go into more biblically-based principles as well.

If your church, youth group, or even school would like to participate in this program, feel free to reach out! I’d love to work with your teens! ▪
