Leave it in His Hands
A couple came into the office and wanted a pregnancy test. They didn’t know what they wanted to do if she was pregnant. They were not living together and neither of them wanted anyone to know. Their pregnancy test came back positive. With the results of the test, they informed me that they had already made an appointment in Pittsburgh to have an abortion a week later.
I counseled them about their options and as I spoke with them, I could sense their undecided feelings on the whole matter and a lack of just not knowing what to do. I asked them when they thought life began. The young woman said that she had read that there was no heartbeat until six weeks. By the date of her last menstrual period, she was already into her fifth week. I told her that actually, the heart beat had already begun beating. They were taken back by that a little. They told me that they were hoping to get the abortion pill. I talked to them about the side effects of that pill and how it works. I suggested they schedule an ultrasound in our clinic to confirm the pregnancy and find out exactly how far along she was.
Their schedules made finding a time difficult. I told them I could get them in on Wednesday or Thursday. They made an appointment with our clinic for Thursday morning at 8:00AM. When the time came, they didn’t show up for their appointment.
We prayed for them each day from then on but we never heard from them about what they decided to do. My heart sinks to think that they went through with it, but I have to trust the God who knows all and sees all and He knows how He can use this for His Glory and I have to leave it in His hands. ·
