From the Director
“For God so loved the world…” are the opening words of John 3:16. These words remind us that God, seeing our condition, has a passionate desire to have a relationship with us. As Christmas approaches, this is an incredible reminder of why Jesus was born.
The love that God showed us through Jesus is why we are here at Crossroads. Our mission is love—a love that is characterized by both truth and compassion. The two are woven together in a bond that leads toward Christ, where burdens are laid to rest and the invitation to salvation is wide open.
Those who come through our doors are often nervous and fearful, even desperate. Yet when they see love, they find something they want—and need so much. They see hope for their situation. This is especially true in a year such as 2020 where many feel hopelessness more tangibly.
In many respects, 2020 will go down as a successful year of ministry. Throughout this year, we have had the challenge of making sure we could still meet the needs of our clients while struggling to raise funds in light of the pandemic. Even with this, babies were saved from abortion and the message of the gospel has been shared—as much, if not more, than years prior. Clients have also been more open to prayer this year.
This year giving is down. We have done everything we can without cutting services to our clients. At Crossroads, we do not make it a practice to send out urgent or overly dramatic appeal letters. We are careful stewards of the funds we are given and we also want to be good stewards of our relationship with you. Therefore, only in special circumstances do we approach our faithful friends with a notice of tight financial times in our ministry.
This is one of those times.
God was not taken by surprise by the recent pandemic and the financial fallout it brought so we aren’t saying the sky is falling. It’s not.
Our vision is to see abortion become obsolete in this area; to get there we need to be the first choice of those facing unplanned pregnancies. The vision hasn’t changed because of the circumstances. We simply need to get past this challenge and start moving forward again. We won’t quit. We’ve just reached a bump in the road. We are asking then—if you are able—that you consider a special gift at this time. If each of us ask the Lord what He would have us do, we can start 2021 with confidence. It may be a large amount He’s calling you to give or a smaller amount. He may want you to give on a monthly basis.
We have learned through the events of this year that monthly gifts are so important, especially when regular fundraising events cannot take place. Our goal is to encourage our friends to give monthly, so we can know better how to budget in order to continue our mission of saving lives.
Thank you for walking out this mission with us. Our prayer for you is that the Prince of Peace will dwell with you now and in the year to come.
