INTRODUCING MARY, OUR NEW STAFF MEMBER

Mary Anderson Jefferis, our Huntingdon Client Services Director, has been married to her high school sweetheart, Mike, for almost 30 years. Fun Fact: Mike’s mother hosted Mary’s mother’s baby shower! They are the proud parents of four amazing children: Rachel married to Drake Cogley, Rebekah married to Devin Park, Hannah married to Alex Dixon, and Stephen-who is happily dating, two grand dogs, and two grand cats.

Mary was blessed to grow up in a good, Christian home and believes she was saved at a young age. However, as she grew older, she was always concerned that she could not remember a definite time or place where she asked Jesus to save her. She made certain of her salvation in the car on the way home from church as a young adult. 

After graduating with a Bachelor’s degree from Penn State in 1995, Mike and Mary made the (expensive!) decision for her not to work outside the home while their children were young. They felt the Lord leading them to the state of Indiana where their entire family was active in the church ministry. Mary was asked to teach junior high Science and Algebra at their Christian School, which she did along with various other classes as needed. Mary also coached girls’ junior and senior high volleyball. 

After returning to Huntingdon County, Mary began volunteering at the Crossroads office in Huntingdon. A volunteer position of three hours a week turned into three days a week and eventually a full-time job. About which Mary says, “We have an excellent program! Our clients have the opportunity to learn about pregnancy, child-rearing, relationships, and many other subjects while earning points they can spend on diapers, clothing, car seats, cribs, etc. In addition, discussions are Biblically-based with an opportunity to share Christ’s love with each client. Our clientele is not limited to young, pregnant women; we have male clients and older clients who want to learn how to improve their relationships and successfully raise their children. It has been a blessing to work in this ministry!”
