WE WILL NOT “PIVOT” AWAY FROM BIBLICAL CHRISTIANITY
We’ve heard the word a lot in the last year and a half – “pivot”. Dictionaries define the word as “to turn utterly, to change direction.”
Our nation is changing direction to move away from biblical principles. Eventually, every Christian and every Christian ministry is going to have to make a decision about what we will do when that ultimate demand for a pivot comes.
For 36 years Crossroads has stood on the truth of the sacredness of life, every life—born and unborn. We believe in the crucifixion, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ and the forgiveness of sins. “While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” These are decidedly the places where we will not and cannot pivot from.
In January, we watched as a new administration immediately pivoted away from God’s precepts. We’ve been told to pivot our thinking about the sacredness of life, gender, and sexuality. We’ve been reprimanded for not complying with the ways of the world. On the other hand, the Texas Heartbeat Act went into effect on September 1, 2021. Also, The Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) announced that it would hear arguments in the case of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Center, on the constitutionality of a Mississippi law that bans abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy. This case and decision will determine the future of the Roe v. Wade decision issued in 1973. It’s impossible to say which way the court will rule but should it rule toward the demise of Roe v. Wade, this doesn’t mean an end to abortion. It simply means that states will have the freedom to restrict it or ban it entirely. Some will expand access to abortion.
A post-Roe America means that our nation will be more divided than ever on this issue. In the words of Abraham Lincoln, we will be “half-slave and half-free.” Therefore, the work of every pro-life pregnancy center will be more critical than ever towards the end of abortion in this nation. Genuinely achieving an abortion-free America will depend upon the national network of 3,000 pro-life pregnancy centers, like Crossroads Pregnancy Center, to reduce and end abortion in their communities—one life at a time —by loving, caring, and supporting each individual client with the love of Jesus. Love saves lives.
We live in challenging times, sure, but they are exciting times as well. To make abortion unthinkable in America, the work of pregnancy centers must rise to the occasion. As we join together to empower women with the truth, we can do mighty things because we know the Lord is on our side. Thank you for standing with us throughout 2021 and we pray you will continue with us as we run the race with endurance in 2022.
“…let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author, and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:1b-2
