Pivot!

The year 2020 was filled with many obstacles but God remained good and in control! A good word to sum up the year was “pivot.” Every day it felt like there were challenges that required us to be creative and flexible in order to overcome. This was true with our Reaching Destinations program. In March of 2020, we suddenly were unable to be in schools because they were closed. There were many weeks of praying, learning, and seeking to discover just how God would continue to use this program in the midst of a pandemic. We knew that now, more than ever before, we needed to be present, available, and reaching teens in our area.

We decided to offer a small group Bible study to teen girls during the summer months. This was such a great experience! We shared with the girls who their identity is found and reminded them their worth is not found in a relationship with a guy but in a relationship with their heavenly Father. The feedback we received was extremely positive and something we will continue to offer in the months/years to come.

Then, in the fall, we began to explore the world of Zoom classes! Thanks to technology, we have gone virtual and have been able to offer the Reaching Destinations program to students/classrooms this fall and spring. Is it different? Yes. But it does still allow us to interact with the teens in our area to teach them how to make healthy choices and help them plan for their future! Isn’t God amazing?! Despite challenges and obstacles, He continues to make a way! He continues to provide and He continues to reach teens in our area through the Reaching Destinations program. We just have to be willing to “pivot” and sometimes do things differently than we have in the past!
