Growing the Father's Heart
The clients are keeping us busy and more dads are attending sessions with their significant others. Another new baby arrived in 2021. She came at 35 weeks. The dad told us how he and his girlfriend felt “so prepared” because of the parenting classes he attended in our Bridges Program. They benefited more from what they learned than what they earned in free items since they had significant support otherwise. We are so thankful to help any couple–those in crisis, those who feel alone, and those who already have healthy support.
We have a new father, James*, attending the Bridges sessions with his daughter. He loves to come and learn new information about his child’s development and wants to know how he can be the best father for her. Initially, James came for couple’s sessions with the baby’s mother but unfortunately, she began using drugs shortly after giving birth. He shared how he feels it’s necessary to distance himself from the relationship to protect himself and his baby. Our client advocate discussed healthy relationships and what is and isn’t his responsibility in the sessions. He has been opening up more about his own pain and struggle in the situation and is always thankful for the classes and a listening ear. The love and care he feels for his baby girl are evident in the ways they interact. What an honor to witness when God turns the heart of a father to his child.
We are currently reviewing our Men’s Program to find ways for improvement. We are also seeking Christian men who might have the time and calling to meet with our male clients. If you have an interest in knowing more, please write to our Executive Director, Cindy, at director@cpcforlife.org to learn more.
